It’s almost the end of the year. The end of the year is an important time for insurance carriers, not just for people.
For this reason, we are recommending all of our members fill their prescriptions needed in January as soon as possible, before the end of the year.
This is a best practice to ensure any member has the medications he or she needs in the new year without interruption.
Why is it important to fill prescriptions before January 1?
Filling the prescription early means you do not have to worry or rush at a time when hours can be more limited, and all businesses are busy.
The end of the year may also be the end of your plan year. For some people, that may mean receiving new ID cards from your primary insurance carrier, ClaimLinx, or both. Not all members will be receiving new cards each year, but we recommend this procedure either way.
The new year can also bring changes to prescription formularies and/or primary insurance networks. Being proactive and getting any prescriptions filled early will ensure a smoother transition from 2023 to 2024 when many clients and insurance carriers go through plan changes.
Remember, prescription formularies for insurance carriers can change at any time. That is why we recommend filling prescriptions early each year.
Does this apply to me if my plan does not renew at the end of the year?
This is a recommendation for all members. Not all members renew at this time. But all members can experience delays because of busy pharmacies and adjusted holiday hours.
If you are not currently in the process of renewing your plan with ClaimLinx, you will not be receiving new ID cards. However, we still recommend filling any prescriptions for the beginning of January early because of the holiday season.
