Why do I need health insurance?

Without health insurance, you and your family’s financial stability could be literally wiped out by just one trip to the emergency room or one surgical procedure. In 2015 alone, national health care spending grew 5.8 percent to $3.2 trillion, or $9,990 per person, and accounted for 17.8 percent of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP). This is among the highest of all industrialized countries. (source: Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services)
